The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has approved a $9.8 billion budget for the 2024-’25 fiscal year, which will begin July. 1.
The budget includes $376.3 million for multiple initiatives, including public safety, economic development, disaster preparedness, infrastructure, community projects, and emergency funds, according to a statement on the county’s website.
“This year’s county budget, will allow us to make investments in infrastructure, economic development, and keeping our neighborhoods safe, improving our parks, and significantly enhancing mental health services,” said Supervisor Jesse Armendarez in the statement.
“Addressing mental health is (also) a top priority, and these investments will make a real difference in our community.”
Most of the budget is made up of programs mandated and paid for by the state. Set asides include $1.8 million to help eliminate homelessness, $32.8 million for infrastructure, nearly $3 million for economic development, $20 million for park and community services and about $41 million for public safety.
The budget, which was approved unanimously, also allocates $5 million for the development a multifamily, low-income housing project in San Bernardino, according to the statement.
