San Bernardino County gets $34 million in federal funds

Twelve public works projects in San Bernardino County have been designated for a combined $34 million in federal funds.

Those earmarks include $2 million to buy snow removal equipment for Wrightwood, Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, and Big Bear and $5 million to improve water quality in Cedar Glen, an unincorporated community in the Angeles National Forest, according to a statement on the county’s website.

Three million dollars has also been set aside to upgrade the Glen Helen Regional Park playground, and $3 million will be spent on a septic-to-sewer conversion in an unincorporated part of Fontana.

“We are delighted to have so many projects selected by our congressional representatives,” said Supervisor Dawn Rowe, board of supervisors chair, in the statement.“These projects  …will help the county deliver law enforcement, parks, preschool, fire, and behavioral health services.”

Last year, five county projects received a combined $12.1 million in federal funding, according to the statement.
