A Santa Ana company will provide traffic-signal synchronization to 16 municipalities in the San Bernardino Valley.
Iteris Inc., which manages mobility infrastructure, has received $737,000 in service orders from the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, according to a statement released Tuesday.
That agreement is part of a $2.5 million “on-call” contract Iteris has with the transportation authority, which manages the county’s transportation system.
Iteris will be responsible for improving synchronization at up to 1,250 intersections throughout a 250-square-mile area. Besides improving traffic flow and safety, the upgrades will reduce travel times and stops for vehicles, buses, bicycles and pedestrians.
Locations receiving traffic signal upgrades include: Chino, Chino Hills, Colton, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Highland, Loma Linda, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino, Upland, Yucaipa, and San Bernardino County.
Work on the project is expected to begin immediately, according to the statement.
