San Bernardino gives out small-business grants

San Bernardino has given $730,000 to 30 small businesses and nonprofit organizations from a grant program it began late last year.

An estimated $2.27 million is expected to be distributed to another 120 entities within the next few months, according to a statement on the city’s website.

The SBVC Foundation ($35,000), BP Distribution ($25,000), The Gear Doctor ($25,000) and Project Fighting Chance ($10,000) were among the recipients.

Last fall, the mayor and city council established the Small Business and Non-Profit Training and Grant Program in partnership with the Small Business Development Center, with $3 million San Bernardino received from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Qualifying small businesses and non-profits located receive grants rating from $10,000 and $35,000 each, with the money distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the statement.
