San Bernardino County’s unemployment rate fell to 6.6 percent in September, its lowest level since March 2020, according to data released this week.
Employers in the county hired more than 11,000 workers in September, pushing the county’s job number to 914,000, the county’s Workforce Development Board reported.
San Bernardino County has now recovered 86 percent of the jobs it lost during the early stages of COVID-19, well above the state average of 63 percent, said Phil Cothran, development board chairman.
“We are a destination for workers and businesses, and are in a unique position to create broad economic prosperity in what is a fiercely competitive marketplace,” Cothran said in the statement.
