SB County orders cancellations

San Bernardino County today ordered the immediate cancellation or postponement of all gatherings of 250 people or more due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Supervisor Curt Hagman announced that the action, ordered by the county health officer, applies to – but isn’t limited to –  concerts, conferences, and professional, college, and school sporting events, according to a statement.

That order is in line with with a guidance issued today by the California Department of Public Health. It does not apply to regular school classes, work, or essential services, nor does it apply to essential public transportation, airport travel, or a store or mall.

“The county realizes that this order will result in inconveniences to many people and businesses,” Hagman said in a statement. “However, the county’s primary concern is the health and wellbeing of its residents and visitors.”

On Tuesday, the County Public Health Officer and the board of supervisors declared a local health emergency, even though no instance of the Coronavirus has been detected in the county.
