San Bernardino County has been recognized by the National Association of Counties for programs the county implemented to help children and seniors and to promote civic engagement.
The county recently received 42 Achievement Awards from the Washington, D.C.,-based organization, according to a statement.
Winners included the public health department, which won five awards, aging and adult services, which won four and the county library, which won three. Awards are given in 18 categories that reflect the variety of services that county governments provide.
“It is an honor to be recognized by NACo for the work our employees do to provide top-notch services and to help empower people who live and work in our communities,” said Robert A. Lovingood, chairman of the board of supervisors, in the statement.
The board will recognize the people and departments responsible for winning the awards at a board meeting. A date has not been set.
San Bernardino County has won 284 NACo awards since 2010, according to the statement.
