San Bernardino County students have again shown year-over-year improvement in English language arts and math testing.
Students in seven grades – three through eight and 11 – improved by one percentage point in those categories during the 2018-19 academic year, according to the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress.
That annual report was published Saturday by the state Department of Education. This is the fourth consecutive month San Bernardino County students have improved in those two categories.
“It’s encouraging to see that the number of students meeting or exceeding California’s academic standards continues to grow,” County Superintendent Ted Alejandre said in the statement.
Fourth and fifth-grade students experienced the most improvement: fifth-graders improved two percentage points in each category compared with the previous year, while fourth graders improved four percentage points in math and one percentage point in English language arts, according to the statement.
