The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors continue working to fight the COVID-19 virus. Most recently approving measures at Tuesday’s board meeting.
Those measures included a declaration of a state of emergency, which positions the county to apply for state and federal aid to help battle the deadly virus, according to a statement.
“We are going to do a lot more things to make sure we stay as safe as possible,” Supervisor Curt Hagman said in the statement. “We are prepared.”
No instances of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, have been detected in San Bernardino County. The virus has caused more than 4,000 deaths worldwide, including 30 in the United States, according to multiple reports.
However, county agencies have been working since late January to make sure the county responds properly if the virus appears there. Those agencies include public health, the fire and sheriff’s departments, Inland Counties Emergency Medical Agency, County Office of Emergency Services and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
