The first light-rail project that will cross into San Bernardino County has received state funding.
The California State Transportation Agency approved nearly $500 million July 8 for the extension of the Gold Line from Pomona and Claremont through Montclair, according to multiple reports.
Funding needed to complete the project – about $300 million – is expected to be provided by the end of the year. The line will stop at the Montclair Transit Center.
Construction is expected to start next spring and take five years to complete. The one mile from the Los Angeles County line to Montclair will be paid by the San Bernardino CountyTransportation Authority, according to the reports.
