Soren named deputy city manager

Asusena “Suzie” Soren has been appointed San Bernardino’s deputy city manager.

Formerly the city’s human resources director, Soren will be in charge of the Finance, Information Technology, Animal Services and Human Resources departments and the call center, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Soren’s appointment fills one of the two deputy city manager positions approved by the mayor and city council in December. A search is underway to fill the second position.

“Suzie Soren has proven to be an integral part of the City’s Executive Team, and I am happy to have her joining the city manager’s office,” said City Manager Charles Montoya in the statement. “She will play a large role in moving San Bernardino forward.”

Soren joined San Bernardino in 2021 as human resources director after working for 14 years in San Bernardino County’s human resources department, according to the statement.
