Starting next June, Southwest Airlines will operate four daily roundtrip flights between Ontario International Airport and San Francisco.
At the same time, the airline will add a third daily flight between Ontario International and Denver International Airport, according to a statement.
Both changes are scheduled to begin June 9.
“Our mission is to develop Ontario into an appealing, low-cost gateway airport that will meet the increasing demand for air service in the region,” said Mark Thorpe, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “If airlines are expanding flight schedules, [then] we are accomplishing our mission.”
Southwest is the fourth airline in recent months to begin, or announce, new flights at Ontario International. Frontier Airlines began daily nonstop service to Orlando in August and JetBlue Airways started nonstop flights to New York City in September.
Delta Air Lines is also scheduled to begin service to Atlanta in April, according to the statement.
