State Cuts Water Use as Drought Persists

California residents saved an estimated 35 billion gallons of water during March, according to data released Tuesday.

That was a 24.3 percent reduction compared with March 2013 and double the amount that was conserved in February of this year, the State Water Resources Control Board reported.

State residents conserved nearly 1.3 million acre feet of water from June 2015 to March 2016, an “impressive” amount, according to the board.
