Perris will receive $10 million from the state that will help the city complete two public works projects.
Two million dollars will be spent on the Perris Senior Center, with the remaining $8 million slated for finishing the connection of the Perris Metrolink and the Southern California Railway Museum, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The money is from the $306 billion budget for fiscal year 2023-’24, which Gov. Gavin Newsom signed in June.
The money is designated for the senior center at 100 N. D St. will be used to expand its multipurpose nutrition room to approximately 2,250 square feet, which will allow for more storage space, offices, and some kitchen renovations.
The $8 million earmarked for the Metrolink-Railway Museum project will pay for track work, traffic controls, and safety equipment. The result will be a “seamless connection” that will move people between the two facilities on trolley cars, according to the statement.
