A Toronto-based company will help Stater Bros. improve its online shopping technology.
Mercatus, a provider of eCommerce tailored to the grocery industry, will design an online ordering and fulfillment system for Stater Bros, according to a statement.
The Mercatus platform, which will be able to browse on any device, will allow Stater Bros. to increase its digital grocery capabilities by offering curbside and delivery options.
“Now more than ever, our customers are looking for the convenience of shopping online,” said Pete Van Helden, chief executive officer of Stater Bros. Markets, in the statement “We see this as an opportunity to build stronger relationships with our shoppers through eCommerce.”
Customers will be able to shop all Stater Bros. products, including prepared meals and customized selections like deli counter foods. They will be able to choose from contactless curbside pickup or delivery, and pay online with SNAP EBT or EBT Cash benefits, according to the statement.
San Bernardino-based Stater Bros. owns and operates more than 170 supermarkets in Southern California. It employs more than 18,000 people and is the largest private employer based in the Inland Empire, according to the statement.
