Stater Bros. marks 85th anniversary

Stater Bros. Markets, the largest private employer in the Inland Empire, is celebrating its 85th anniversary this weekend.

All 170 supermarkets in the San Bernardino-based chain on Saturday and Sunday will give away $25 gift cards every hour between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to a statement released Thursday.

Also, customers will receive 10 percent off Stater Bros.’ family of brand products when they enter their Digital Deals ID at checkout, and prizes will be given away every Monday in August through Instagram.

“We are so grateful to celebrate 85 years serving Southern California communities,” said Pete Van Helden, Stater Bros.’ chief executive officer, in the statement. “This celebration is just a small way to thank our loyal customers for their continued support.”

Stater Bros. employs more than 18,000 people and averages more than $4 billion a year in sales, according to the statement.
