Stater Bros. is going to Pasadena.
The supermarket chain is scheduled to open its first store in that city later this year, according to a statement.
Stater Bros. will take possession of a 42,000-square-foot retail space at the northeast corner of Allen Avenue and Washington Boulevard north of the Foothill Freeway in May.
The site will then undergo a major renovation and reopen as a Stater Bros. market sometime this fall.
The new market, at 1390 N. Allen Ave., will feature a full-service meat department, seafood department, delicatessen, bakery, seating areas floral department and garden-fresh produce department.
Based in San Bernardino, Stater Bros. is the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in the Inland Empire. The company operates 171 stores and employs an estimated 18,000 people, according to the statement.
