For the second time this month, the Palm Springs Swim Center has been shut down because of COVID-19 related issues.
Announced Tuesday, the temporary closure is necessary because of staff shortages caused by the pandemic, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“We understand how much our residents use and appreciate the Swim Center and we did not make this decision lightly,” said Jeannie Kays, interim rector of parks and recreation, in the statement. “This closure is necessary to ensure the health and safety of not only our employees, but also the public who use the facility daily.”
The first closure, attributed to swim center staff being exposed to COVID-19, began Jan. 10 and lasted nine days, according to the statement.
