Town to allow attendance at public meetings

Apple Valley will resume in-person town council meetings and other public gatherings.

Attendance will be limited to 50 percent of capacity, with physical-distance seating and sanitizing of common areas, according to a statement on the town’s website.

Masks and temperature checks will also be required.

“It has been more than a year since we’ve held meetings with faces in the audience,” said Mayor Curt Emick said in the statement. “I know the entire town council is looking forward to seeing our residents and stakeholders again and hearing from them in-person on matters of importance to them and to our community.”

Council members he council has met without an audience. It has used a call-back system, in which the town clerk calls anyone who wishes to comment on a council item during a meeting. That system will remain in place for people who haven’t been vaccinated or who aren’t comfortable attending a public meeting, according to the statement.
