San Bernardino and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority are working on relieving congestion at the Foothill Freeway and Waterman Avenue.
The $9.8 million project will add a second left turn lane in each direction of Waterman Avenue, and enlarge the freeway’s eastbound on-ramp from one to two lanes, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“The 210 Freeway – Waterman Avenue Interchange Project represents progress and opportunity for San Bernardino,” said Mayor Helen Tran, who represents the City on the SBCTA Board, in the statement. “This project is a vital step toward creating a more accessible and thriving city.”
Aside from some occasional lane closures, Waterman Avenue will remain open during construction, which is expected to be completed in November, according to the statement.
