Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, as well as real estate and mortgage trends. Ed delivers intelligent radio with unique, witty and irreverent flair.

This week, Ed begins by discussing reverse mortgages, including the new financial assessment development that requires borrowers to present proof of income that demonstrates their ability to make payments. If you have ever wondered whether a reverse mortgage is a good financial tool for yourself or a loved one, call Wholesale Capital Corporation to see what it can do for you.

Next, Ed gives a shout out to actress Patricia Arquette for her melodramatic Academy Award declaration that women are still struggling for equal rights – to which Ed says “give me a break,” because legislation enforcing equal pay in the United States has been on the books since 1963. He also addresses the Oscar telecast speeches given by musicians Common and John Legend, and compares them to what one sharp African-American woman said to him at last week’s Unite IE Conservative Conference.

Speaking of the Unite IE Conservative Conference, Ed led the Pledge of Allegiance at the event and was honored to meet several of the speakers. Ed is proud to have a new friend in national radio talk show host Larry Elder, who will appear on The Main Event soon! He was likewise pleased to meet Carly Fiorina, who was also one of the first speakers at this week’s Conservative Political Action Conference (known by most as CPAC). Ed loves Fiorina’s passion when it comes to blasting the Obama administration’s lack of leadership on Islamic terror. “It gives you hope for the future to know there are so many great people who may run for President in 2016,” he says. If you haven’t caught the CPAC speeches yet – or, you just want to relive some of the conference’s more exciting moments – you’ll want to listen to this week’s show!

Continuing to re-cap the CPAC speeches, Ed discusses his favorite potential candidate, former Texas Governor Rick Perry. While Perry didn’t necessarily make the best impression in 2011 during his first presidential run, Ed points out that he was still governor at the time, which can hamper a candidate’s ability to give their all to a run for President. This week, a fellow radio host said that Perry doesn’t deserve another chance to run – and Ed calls him out for it! Tune in to find out who it was! (Hint: He’s the young, brilliant co-host of a daily morning show.)

Perry’s speech addressed the President’s failures on ISIS, and called his approach “naïve and dangerous.” If you haven’t caught Perry’s speech yet, tune in to The Main Event this week to hear its highlights. He addresses failure after failure of the Obama administration on terror, immigration and other foreign and domestic policy matters. “Watching all of this unfold is the President of Russia,” Perry said. “Our allies doubt us and our adversaries are all too willing to test us.” Ed wants Perry to run in 2016 for many reasons, including the fact that, “His past actions indicate that he won’t hesitate to act strongly on our behalf like Reagan did.” Ed also sings the praises of Ben Carson and plays some hard-hitting clips from Dr. Carson’s CPAC speech as well as a clip from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Next week, he’ll continue re-capping CPAC with commentary on Scott Walker, the number one pick of many Republicans right now. Tune in then for more analysis!
