Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, Ed starts things off by talking about the lies of Hillary Clinton. He plays a clip of Hillary saying on CBS Evening News that she “always tries” to tell the truth, giving herself wiggle room. “If I was going to talk about all her lies, I’d run out of time,” Ed says. “I only have an hour long show.”
Next it’s on to the fight to replace Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat – a right that Democrats believe is Barack Obama’s, and Republicans believe is the next President’s. After playing Obama’s remarks on why he’s the only one constitutionally approved to appoint the next justice, Ed says, “Isn’t it amazing how Obama quotes the Constitution when it’s convenient for him? And I don’t even know if that’s really in the Constitution.” He also elaborates on the vitriol that spread over social media after the conservative judge’s death. “It’s amazing the hate that goes out there,” Ed says. “I almost got depressed.” Keep listening, though; Ed has some inspirational words about rising above life’s obstacles, and you don’t want to miss out. You’ll also hear a story about when this happened before, and guess what? That time, it involved a Democrat-controlled Senate blocking the confirmation of a Republican President’s appointee. If you don’t remember this happening, tune in to The Main Event this week for a quick history lesson!
As the first half closes out, Ed talks about the Apple corporation’s refusal to break into the phone of Islamic terrorist Syed Farook, who killed 14 people in San Bernardino along with his Pakistani-born wife. If you haven’t yet heard what Obama’s own Department of Justice says about this, tune in; you might be surprised because the DOJ is just as angry at Apple as most of us are! In reference to Apple’s paranoia over data security, Ed says, “I thought we got rid of Rand Paul!” You’ll also hear statements on this controversy from presidential candidates Ben Carson and Marco Rubio.
Speaking of Marco Rubio, you’ll hear what he and others have to say about the endorsements he received in the key primary state of South Carolina this week. Ed has a lot to say about that and how he feels the other candidates are doing as we approach the South Carolina primary this week and move closer to Super Tuesday. If you were upset at Donald Trump blaming 9/11 on George W. Bush, Ed agrees with you and has some choice words. “He lost big time points on that,” Ed says. “He did with me.” He does support Trump on other matters, though, which he’ll also address – and, tell you that he’s “getting tired of the stuff Ted Cruz is pulling.”
As the show closes out, Ed has some real estate anecdotes investors will find interesting!
