Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, the show starts with the aftermath of Super Tuesday. Ed and his guest Scott break down the results and discuss the reality that Donald Trump may indeed be the Republican nominee for President. After the results came in on Tuesday, Ed says, “Trump, for the first time, actually looked presidential.” He plays audio from Trump’s Super Tuesday speech to illustrate. Ed and Scott also talk about the idea of the mysterious Republican “establishment” and try to get in the heads of people who throw around that label. Next, it’s on to dissecting Hillary Clinton’s war of words for Republican candidates (mainly Trump) and her strange pledge to “make America whole again.”

Speaking of a war of words, 2012 Republican Mitt Romney held a press conference Thursday morning to sound off on Trump and discourage conservatives from voting for him. Ed asks, “Why is the Republican party so freaked out right now? Why do they think they have to bring out the ‘big guns’ like Romney to scare people away?” Ed also reminds listeners that while Romney would have made an excellent President, he has engaged in some very non-presidential activity of his own in the years since the 2012 election – such as boxing shirtless with Evander Holyfield for charity. As the show moves into the second half, Ed also brings up the glowing words Romney had for Trump in 2012. the debate and lead off with Trump’s response to Romney’s efforts.

Before moving on to Thursday’s debate, Ed wants to talk about Chris Christie’s odd, silent presence in Trump’s Super Tuesday speech. “I don’t think Chris Christie cares about what’s best for this country. I think Chris Christie wants what’s best for Chris Christie, and if he’s Vice President, he can run for President again.”

Next it’s on to the debate, where Ed and Scott break down:

  • Trump’s words on Romney: “I think his wife talked to him and told him not to be so unhinged,” Ed says.
  • Trump’s David Duke controversy – here Trump’s on the mark response to the question on it during the debate.
  • The back-and-forth between Trump and Rubio and the now-infamous “small hands” moment, of which Ed says, “The candidates are getting small.”
  • The business acumen of Trump, vs. the idea that he inherited his wealth
  • The most juvenile exchange of the debate (AKA “Little Marco” moment), of which Ed says, “Can you say junior high school?”

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:

  • Ed’s thoughts on Rubio calling Trump a “con artist”
  • A strange prediction regarding a Trump/Oprah ticket
  • Hilarious audio from Jimmy Kimmel Live – listen to LA residents saying who they voted for on Super Tuesday, when the California primary isn’t until June!
