Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, as well as real estate and mortgage trends. Ed delivers intelligent radio with unique, witty and irreverent flair.
This week, Ed leads off with some local stories. It starts with information on the HERO program for energy improvements, which Ed can explain when you call him at Wholesale Capital Corporation. Going solar is a great way to reduce your energy bills, but it’s important to finance your solar upgrades properly and Ed’s team can help you do it! This week’s show leads off with some great information on solar, and it can be useful to buyers and sellers as well. Next, Ed touches on the birds – yes, birds! – that are threatening a $2 million bridge repair project in Moreno Valley. You’ll also hear about Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s claim that global warming will – wait for it – “turn women into prostitutes.”
Next it’s on to national news, which begins with the story of the Germanwings airbus crash in the French Alps. In the days since the tragedy, we’ve learned that the co-pilot deliberately crashed the plane and that he had a litany of problems that should have prevented him from flying. Tune in to hear Ed’s take on the idea that we should screen pilots for mental illness; you may be surprised, but it’s a bit different from what you’ve been hearing all week and you don’t want to miss it.
Then, Ed talks about Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign announcement. Ed has two problems with Ted Cruz: 1.) He’s a first term Senator like Barack Obama was, and 2.) He was born in Canada. Because of this, Cruz will be subject to all kinds of criticism by the President’s supporters who believe that all Republicans are “birthers” who don’t believe Obama was born in Hawaii. To illustrate, Ed plays a clip from “The View” this week, in which Whoopi Goldberg gives us a taste of what’s to come in terms of liberal ranting about Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for President. If a candidate must be a natural born citizen, Ed wants to know why Cruz’s supporters feel Cruz is eligible, but Obama – if they have doubts about the President’s birth certificate – was not. Republicans must have an answer for that, or Cruz will be shot down immediately. Ed also plays clips from Cruz’s Today Show interview, and he has even more doubts about Cruz after hearing it. Tune in if you want some fresh analysis on Ted Cruz!
You’ll also hear about Bowe Bergdhal, the P.O.W. who will now be charged with desertion for leaving his post and (presumably) seeking out the Taliban. Ed recaps the Bergdhal story for those who need a refresher course, and includes all the details the media leaves out: the platoon members and other comrades who knew all along Bergdhal had desertion aspirations, Bergdhal’s father speaking in Arabic in the White House rose garden and most importantly, the six fellow soldiers who perished while looking for Bergdhal in a rescue mission. If you haven’t had time to keep up on the Bowe Bergdhal story, it’s okay – just tune into The Main Event to get up to speed! You’ll also hear the latest on the Iranian nuclear negotiations, and Ed breaks it down in a way that’s easy to understand. If you want to have a better understanding of what’s going on in the Middle East, tune in to this week’s show.
