Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, Ed begins by listing two 150th anniversary milestones 1.) The passage of the 13th amendment, which freed the slaves, and 2.) Abraham Lincoln’s death. Tune in to hear why Ed is upset that no one is talking about them. Next he touches on some mortgage news, including the news that FHA rates came down in January. Wholesale Capital Corporation has helped numerous homeowners refinance recently, which enables them to cash out, pay off debts and receive a lower interest rate. Some are also able to get rid of their expensive mortgage insurance.
Next it’s on to national news, which begins with the White House being hacked by what most insiders believe is the Russian government. Despite these insiders telling the media that the U.S. knows Russia was behind this infiltration, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters this week that, “It’s not in our best interest to identify the entity that may be responsible.” Why won’t he admit it was Russia? Tune in to find out what Ed thinks.
Of course, Ed will discuss Hillary Clinton as she is believed to announce her candidacy for President this Sunday at noon. He will address the reasons why pollsters are saying people no longer trust Ms. Clinton (now that it’s sexist to call her by her first name), and what Republican candidate is already leading her in the key states of Iowa and Colorado. And if you haven’t yet heard about the new tell-all book that reveals what really went on in the first Clinton White House – or, you have heard about it and you just want to relive the fascinating tale of Bill Clinton receiving a mysterious injury believed to be the result of Ms. Clinton “clocking him with a book” in the presidential bedroom – tune in to The Main Event to hear all about it.
The Republican candidate of the week was Rand Paul, who Ed is not a fan of. “He’s not even in my top six,” Ed says. Regardless, Ed finds the critiques that Paul’s interviews with female reporters are “sexist” to be ridiculous. “I don’t have a problem with it,” Ed says. “When liberal reporters ask dumb questions, I want a President who doesn’t take any crap.” Next week, Marco Rubio will likely announce his candidacy and Ed will examine his positions; this week, Ed dissects Rand Paul’s positions on everything that matters, and you need to hear it! Whether you like Paul or not, you should know what it means to “stand with Rand” so you can make an informed decision.
On this week’s show, you’ll also hear about:
- The Governor of Maine passing a law that has reduced food stamp recipients by about 80% – tune in to find out how he did it!
- An interesting perspective on the South Carolina shooting that made news this week: the perspective of not jumping to conclusions on either side.
- Two local stories: A family gets a $5.5 million wrongful death settlement stemming from an incident at a Burger King in Moreno Valley, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy beating of a horse thief in Apple Valley. Get Ed’s perspective on both these strange, unfortunate incidents and hear why he still believes police are being unfairly scrutinized throughout the country.
