Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national, regional and local current events, as well as trends in the local real estate market. Ed delivers intelligent radio with unique, witty and irreverent flair.

This week, everyone in the nation remained captivated by the events in France – everyone but the President, that is. When the administration failed to send any senior representative to the march of solidarity in Paris last Sunday despite numerous world leaders being present, it was a clear indicator of where the White House’s priorities stood. Ed does not mince words regarding his opinion. He agrees with critics who say the President is, “Leading from behind, waiting until we see what everyone says on TV so we can patch things up.” Ed counters, “Is that the best the United States government can do?”

Ed’s special guest in the studio this week is Lou Desmond, former host of “The Lou Desmond Show” on AM590. Because Lou and Ed have been friends and colleagues for many years, Ed welcomes Lou on to discuss his new venture, a podcast launching in the next couple of weeks. The name of the podcast will be “Lou Desmond and Company,” and Lou’s loyal band of listeners and fans can get more information on it as the launch date nears by following him on Twitter at @WiseGuyLou, and by routinely checking IE Business Daily for a link to the show.

As Ed and Lou discuss the President’s failure to be at the march in France, the two agree that he has no sense of what the appropriate response is to an international crisis. “I’m embarrassed by the fact that I have to say that the French are being braver right now than we are,” Lou says. Ed notes that the President has mentioned college football playoffs in the past several days, demonstrating that he prioritized sports over last week’s important event. “He blamed it on the Secret Service, and the Secret Service called BS on that one,” Ed says.

Ed shifts the topic to world economics, in light of the President’s consistent efforts to take credit for any positive changes in money markets. “I don’t think gold is strong, and I think the stock market’s going to crash,” Ed says. “Eight years ago we had a stock market crash; now it’s back up, but the dollars are inflated so they’re not worth as much.” Ed shares with listeners some advice he gave a client this week: “I’d take out all of what you have in stocks, and put it in something more stable. You can never lose money taking a profit.” Tune in this week to hear more insights like this, as Ed and Lou discuss the economy at length on this week’s show and point out the ways in which liberal policies have created a permanent underclass that expects government entitlements for generations to come – and, how the current President has unwound the legacies of the great Presidents before him.
