UCR medical school recognized for diversity

UC Riverside’s School of Medicine has been ranked fifth in ethnic diversity among all U.S. graduate schools by U.S. News & World Report.

The medical school tied for fifth with the Tyson School of Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Pasadena for the most ethnically diverse student body, according to the magazine’s 2023 rankings of the top U.S. medical schools.

Howard University in Washington, D.C., Florida International University, UC Davis, and the University New Mexico made up the top five. One hundred and thirty medical schools were ranked.

“As we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, it feels great to be nationally recognized as one of the best medical schools for diversity by U.S. News & World Report,” said Deborah Deas, vice chancellor of health sciences and the Mark and Pam Rubin Dean of the UCR School of Medicine, in a statement “We take great pride in our mission to train a diverse physician workforce throughout Inland Southern California.”
