UC Riverside has been ranked the top U.S. university for social mobility by U.S. News & World Report.
This was the third consecutive year that the magazine, well-known for its ratings of U.S. colleges and universities, ranked UC Riverside number one in that category, according to a statement on the university’s website.
Social mobility assesses how much a school helps its low-income graduates achieve a higher standard of living. It’s considered a top measure of success in higher education.
“Three in a row has a ring to it,” said UC Riverside Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox in the statement. “UC Riverside is unquestionably the higher education leader for social mobility, an important measure that means we are providing people the tools to lead fuller lives.”
No other Inland Empire college or university made the list. The magazine ranked UC Riverside 83 in its list of top colleges and universities.
