UC Riverside recently opened two buildings, one that will teach medical doctors and one that will focus on student health, the other on teaching medical doctors.
The School of Medicine Education building and the Student Health and Counseling Center, both opened late last month and are part of a wave of construction taking place on campus this year, according to a statement on the university’s website.
The five-story, 94,478-square-foot medical school building took two years to build. It’s next to the existing School of Medicine Education Building on the east side of campus.
The two-story, 40,000-square-foot counseling center is on the north end of campus. It puts medical, mental health, and well-being services under one roof for the first time, according to the statement.
Two other major construction projects are underway at UC Riverside.
The School of Business is expected to complete an instructional-administrative building by the fall of next year. Also, the ground is expected to be broken soon on the second phase of the North District student residential complex, according to the statement.
