United Parcel Service will expand its operation at Ontario International Airport.
The Atlanta-based cargo carrier will enlarge its existing facility at the airport to approximately 900,000 square feet, an increase of about 15 percent, the company announced in a statement posted on its website last week.
The increase, which will happen in phases during the next five years, is meant to keep up with the growth in e-commerce, in which online orders for goods can be completed in one day. The expansion is expected to created more than 500 jobs, the report stated.
“The City of Ontario is thrilled that UPS is once again expanding operations at Ontario International Airport,’ Ontario Mayor Paul S. Leon said in a statement. “The addition of over 500 new jobs is a sign of things to come as Ontario International Airport serves the needs of the traveling public and the growth of business and logistics in the Inland Empire.”
