Loma Linda University Health and Beaver Medical Group in Colton have ended an eight-year legal battle between the two institutions.
The dispute, which began in 2009, concerned the university’s acquisition of a minority interest in EPIC Management, Beaver Medical’s management company, according to a statement.
At that time, the school also purchased an interest in EPIC’s corporate general partner, EPIIC Management.
Under the terms of the settlement, Loma Linda’s interest in both of those entities has been redeemed. Also, both parties have ended any “shared governance” of EPIC, EPIIC and any Loma Linda affiliates.
This will allow both organizations to develop health care networks and pursue other projects independent of each other and with no restrictions left over from their former partnership, according to the statement.
All other terms of the settlement are confidential.
