San Bernardino County has received a $1.4 million property tax payment from Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for the second half of 2020.
The San Francisco-based public utility is paying $268 million in property taxes to the 50 counties where it owns property that provides gas and electric service to 16 million Californians, according to a statement.
Payments ranged from $32.4 million to Alameda County to $6,446 to San Diego County.
“Property tax payments are one of the important ways [Pacific Gas] helps drive local economies and supports essential public services like education and public safety,” said David Thomason, the company’s vice president, controller, and chief financial officer, in the statement. “This year’s payments reflect the substantial local investments we continue to make in our gas and electric infrastructure to create a safer and more reliable system.”
