Walmart will open a 340,000-square foot high-tech consolidation center in Colton that will receive, sort and ship freight.
The automated facility, the first of its kind in the company’s supply chain, is scheduled to open in July with 150 full-time workers and will grow to more than 600 full-time workers by 2021, according to a statement.
Located at 1600 Aqua Mansa Road, the facility will be used to process and sort goods, allowing them to be shipped to various locations in the most precise manner possible.
“We’re going to make the regional distribution centers more efficient,” said Geno Bell, senior director of the consolidation center network, in the statement. “With this new technology, we can be surgical and responsive in getting merchandise into stores.”
