Walmart will give more cash bonuses to hourly workers for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The payout will be $300 for full-time workers and $150 for part-time workers, according to a statement.
The bonuses will go to store, club, distribution center, and fulfillment center associates. Drivers, managers, and assistant managers will also receive a bonus.
The payments will add up to approximately $428 million, according to the statement.
“Our associates have been working at an incredible pace, they’ve solved problems, and they’ve set an amazing example for others,” said John Furner, president, and chief executive officer of Walmart U.S, in the statement. “To further appreciate their incredible work, we are pleased to share another special cash bonus this summer.”
All bonuses are scheduled to be paid Aug. 20. At that point, the company will have given out $1.1 billion in bonuses this year, according to the statement.
Walmart also announced it will close all Walmart and Sam’s Club stores on Thanksgiving Day so employees may spend the day with their loved ones.
