Website Devoted to El Nino

Riverside has set up a website that provides information regarding El Nino.

The site, riversideca.gov/elnino, is designed to help residents and businesses prepare for heavy amounts of rain as well as the aftermath of a storm, said Phil Pitchford, spokesman for the city.

It also tells people where they can get and sandbags and includes information about Riverside’s educational effort, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

The site has received multiple visitors since it went online early this month, and the city might consider leaving it up after the El Nino threat passes.

It could be worth making it permanent,” Pitchford said. “There’s a lot of information on the site that’s worth having even if it’s just raining.”
