After last week’s Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage being constitutional in all 50 states, the White House was bathed in rainbow lighting for an evening. Naturally, President Obama spoke up because he only comments on things that are important to him, his uninformed base, and the ideological left at large.
“I did not have a chance to comment on how good the White House looked in rainbow colors,” he remarked in a news conference Tuesday. “That made it a really good week – to see people gathered in an evening outside on a beautiful summer night, and to feel whole and to feel accepted and to feel that they had a right to love – that was pretty cool. That was a good thing.” So now that gay marriage is the law of the land – and the White House has endorsed it in the loudest, proudest, most in-your-face way possible – can our government maybe take on a new pet project? Maybe they could start focusing on, oh I don’t know, the unending persecution of Christians at the hands of ISIS?
Maybe they could look at the plight of a young Iraqi nun who was barred entry into the United States to speak about the brutal treatment of Christians in her country. Sister Diana Momeka of the Nineveh Christians (a group being systematically killed off by ISIS) was the only Christian in an Iraqi delegation headed to D.C. for official meetings this spring – and mysteriously, she was the only delegate whose visitor visa was denied. The reason? The consulate feared she might be lying about visiting, and instead intending to stay. Oh, you mean she might actually be an illegal immigrant? But I thought that was okay now. I guess only if you’re coming from Mexico or South America (and God forbid if a Republican presidential candidate comments on that).
Will the President comment on her cause, or sign some executive action that grants people like her entry into the country? Of course not. In fact, he only comments on American prisoners of ISIS after they’re killed – and is quick to remind us that ISIS is a “death cult” that doesn’t represent the majority of Muslim believers. When innocents are beheaded, making sure Americans don’t confuse murderous Muslims with mainstream ones is our President’s priority.
But back to what’s important to him right now: rainbows on the White House. Listen, I don’t begrudge anyone happiness. Live with your partner, adopt kids, buy a house (and call me at Wholesale Capital Corporation when you’re ready to do it!). You can do all of those things without changing the definition of marriage. You can do them with a civil union – something Barack Obama said for years, when he was pretending to be opposed to gay marriage – but suspiciously, it’s difficult to find statistics on how many gay Americans actually take advantage of that option. I wonder why that is? Maybe because they aren’t as desperate to get married as we’re told they are.
The world changes, yes – but why are we letting less than three percent of the population dictate the direction of the country? Because we now adopt a “greater good” philosophy of governance straight from the minds of Marx and Lenin. And last week, our Supreme Court fell for it.
