Zelinka to leave Riverside
Riverside City Manager Al Zelinka has accepted the city manager position in Huntington Beach.
Zelinka’s hiring will be formally announced during Huntington Beach’s May 3 city council meeting, according to a statement posted Wednesday on Riverside’s website.
“Al Zelinka has been a steady hand during the past four years, including two years working with our elected officials to get our city and our workforce through the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson said in the statement. “We are grateful for his commitment to Riverside.”
A 10-year Riverside employee, Zelinka was first community and economic development director, then assistant city manager. He was promote to city manager in May 2018.
His last day in office is scheduled for June 3. In the meantime, Mayor Dawson and the council will determine how the city will fill its top administrative post.
A timetable for Zelinka’s replacement has not been announced.
