Local aviation company expands

Threshold Aviation, the Chino-based company that maintains, manages and services private aircraft, has expanded.

The company has leased 45,000 square feet of hangar space at Chino Airport, enlarging its operation there to about 175,000 square feet, according to statement released Wednesday.

Threshold has hired three maintenance technicians, and it plans to hire three or four more as demand dictates, said Mark DiLullo, the company’s founder and chief executive officer.

“Business jet travel has definitely picked up and we are happy to respond …  by growing our business,” DiLullo said in a statement.

When a company like Threshold is doing well it’s usually a sign the economy is doing well, according to DiLullo.

“People are not running around in jet aircraft unless these operations bring time and money value to their business,” he added.

DiLullo  who spends much time traveling the world looking for private jets that can be restored for flight, declined to discuss terms of the lease. He called it the “standard agreement” between San Bernardino County, the airport’s owner, and its tenants.

Threshold began using the space about three weeks ago. It’s next to the company’s  main operation at 8352 Kimball Ave., which is next to a 7,000-foot runway.
