Moreno Valley to reopen some parks

Moreno Valley is reopening some parks beginning today, although social distancing and face-covering requirements will remain in place.

The partial reopening applies to open spaces and trails, courts for non-contact sports, the Equestrian Center, Hound Town Dog Park and Cottonwood Golf Center, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Skate parks, and all park parking lots – except for the Equestrian Center and Hound Town – will remain closed to discourage gatherings.

“We believe we can safely do this if everyone commits to using common sense and abiding by a shared sense of community responsibility,” Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said in the statement. “Our park rangers will continue to monitor park activities, but really this is about being able to trust each other to do the right thing.”

Shared items such as picnic tables, barbecues, playgrounds and play structures, and any activities involving groups, will remain closed or prohibited, according to the statement.
