OIA Traffic Down

Passenger traffic at Ontario International Airport dropped slightly in August, according to data released this week.

Overall passenger count last month was 357,854, a 2.9 percent decline compared with August of 2015, Los Angeles World Airports reported.

Domestic traffic was essentially flat – 344,676 passengers a year-over-year drop of 1.82 percent – but international traffic didn’t fare so well.

The airport’s two international carriers, AeroMexico and Volaris, saw their combined passenger count go from 17,549 to 13,178 year-over-year, a drop of nearly 25 percent, according to world airports.

Ontario International handled 49,688 tons of cargo, including mail, during August and 363,218 tons during the first eight months of this year, world airports reported.
