Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

Ed starts the show by talking about the “Brexit,” Great Britain’s exit from the European Union. He has thoughts on what’s led to British voters getting fed up with the E.U. that you’ll find intriguing, and will read a list of companies that’s exiting Great Britain as a result of the turmoil. There are several names that Americans know!

Next, it’s on to recapping our week in the U.S. It starts with Monday, when the Department of Justice ordered the FBI to omit portions of the 911 call that Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen made before killing 49 people out of allegiance to ISIS. Ed plays everyone from Attorney General Loretta Lynch to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest making excuses for the “partial transcript” of the call omitting any references to Islam. “What were they trying to hide?” Ed says sarcastically. “I wonder.” In regards to Lynch’s declaration that the best way to fight ISIS is with “love,” Ed says, “How can people look at the same situation and see two completely different things?”

As we near the end of the first half, Ed brings up the gun control issues of the week, including the debate over how effective the terrorist watch list is – and of course, the silly sit-in stunt pulled by the Democrats in Congress on Wednesday. “Why don’t you get passionate about something that really makes a difference?” Ed says. He agrees with Speaker Paul Ryan, who called the whole thing a fundraising stunt and reminded us that real issue is terrorism. Ed sums the whole debate up with this: “The only thing easier to buy than a legal gun is an illegal gun. People who are going to kill someone are going to break the law no matter what.”

In the second half, Ed’s talking about the Supreme Court being deadlocked in a 4:4 tie vote to stall Obama’s plan to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. Ed plays Obama’s reaction, which sounds a lot like the President is saying illegal immigrants should have the same rights as U.S. citizens. “Since when are illegal immigrants paying taxes and serving in our military?” Ed says. “I have to call B.S. on Obama’s B.S.”

Ed’s also talking about this week in the election, including Donald Trump using his new and improved campaign style to still blast Hillary Clinton on her corruption. If you aren’t sure what Trump meant this week when he said that “Hillary Clinton has perfected the politics of personal profit,” listen to this week’s show; you’ll hear a list of countries she gave special treatment to as Secretary of State in exchange for Clinton Foundation donations of $1 million or more. Here’s a hint: They’re countries that prevent women from driving, voting and doing pretty much anything without their husbands’ permission, and they’re also countries that imprison or even kill gay people. “But she’s such a champion for women,” Ed says. He’ll also talk about the lies Hillary is spreading about Trump’s taxes. You don’t want to miss this The Main Event this week!
