City gets new bus fleet

Corona’s Transit Services Division has replaced its 11 Dial-A-Ride buses.

The buses maintain their longtime look and feel but now use compressed natural gas to get around, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Corona’s entire transit fleet now runs on compressed natural gas, which burns cleaner than gasoline or propane.

The new buses are air conditioned, have a wheelchair lift and multiple safety features, including two-way radio communications and eight surveillance cameras. The buses cost $1.4 billion and were paid for with state and federal grants.

Corona’s Dial-A-Ride is an on-demand, shared-ride transportation service that provides curb-to-curb service. It’s available to people with disabilities or anyone 60 years old or older, according to the statement.
