Online event to help charities

An online event meant to generate donations to nonprofit organizations in San Bernardino County is scheduled to be held Oct. 30.

GiveBIG San Bernardino County encourages people to go online that day and donate to their favorite local charity, then mark their donation vial social media by using #GiveBIGSBCounty, according to a statement.

The donation website is givebigsbcounty.org. Donations will be processed the day of the campaign, but they may also be scheduled in advance by visiting the website.

The 24-hour event, one of multiple “giving days” held throughout the United States, is sponsored by The Community Foundation in Riverside, which serves all of the Inland Empire. Members of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors are helping in that effort.

Since it began four years ago, GiveBIG San Bernardino County has raised more than $1.3 million for 333 nonprofits in the county, according to the statement.
