Two thousand and eighteen has been a solid year at Ontario International Airport, and officials there expect it to finish strong.
Nearly 253,000 people will travel to and from the airport during the 18-day period that begins today and ends Jan. 6, according to a statement released by the Ontario International Airport Authority.
If that prediction is accurate it will be a 3.2 percent increase compared with last year’s holiday travel season, when approximately 245,000 traveled through Ontario International.
During the past 12 months, Ontario International added non-stop flights to New York, Florida and Taiwan while making multimillion-dollar upgrades to the airport’s dining and retail operations.
“This could not be a better time for Ontario International and our customers, who will enjoy our spacious, light-filled terminals, easy security screening and upgraded food, beverage and retail concessions,” said Mark Thorpe, the authority’s chief executive officer, in the statement.
