Stater Bros. to open Ladera Ranch store

Stater Bros. Markets Inc. has announced that it will open its first store in Ladera Ranch in Orange County.

The San Bernardino-based supermarket chain will remodel a retail site in the Mercantile West shopping center at Crown Valley Parkway and Antonio Parkway, according to a statement on the company’s website.

Work is expected to begin this summer. No opening date was announced.

When completed, the store will be Stater Bros.’ 32nd in Orange County. It will create 75 union jobs and feature full-service meat and sea food sections, a bakery, delicatessen and several healthy organic offerings.

“Stater Bros. will be an excellent asset to the Ladera Ranch community,” said Jud Dutrisac, Chief Operating Officer of Westar Associates, manager of Mercantile West in the statement. “We are excited for them to open and join the other businesses in the Mercantile West shopping center.”

Stater Bros. is the largest private employer based in the Inland Empire – 172 stores and roughly 17,000 employees – and the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California, according to the statement.
