Cappell joins OIA’s executive staff

Dan Cappell, a 29-year veteran of the international aviation industry, has been named chief commercial officer at Ontario International Airport.

A native of the United Kingdom, Cappell has worked with John Wayne Airport in Orange County, and with airports in Charlotte, N.C, Baltimore, Denver and Phoenix, according to a statement.

Cappell is currently a consultant at Ontario International. He began his new duties December 2.

During his career, Cappell has helped develop airport business plans, concession plans and advertising.

“We have had the benefit of Dan’s expertise and experience in his capacity as a consultant, so he is no stranger to all we’ve accomplished as well as our vision for Ontario as a first-rate international aviation gateway,” said Mark Thorpe, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “He’s keenly aware of what it takes to develop successful airports.”
