Brown put in charge of Riverside County park

Kyla Brown has been named director of Riverside County’s Regional Park and Open Space District.

Brown, who has been the district’s assistant director for the past nine years, will replace Scott Bangle, who is scheduled to retire Dec. 19, according to a statement on the city’s website.

“Beautiful parks and open spaces are characteristic of Riverside County,” said Board Chairman Kevin Jeffries in the statement. “Kyla Brown’s experience and dedication to parks, especially the positive impact they have on the physical and well-being of our residents, will continue to serve the department well in her new role.”

Brown, who will oversee more than 100 employees, has more than 25 years experience in local government. In her previous job she was responsible for day-to-day operations of the county’s regional parks and open spaces.

In 2018, Brown helped the district secure accreditation from the National Recreation and Park Association, according to the statement.
