Omnitrans has made several adjustments to its service because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
As of March 21, and lasting until April 19, most passengers must enter and exit every bus through the rear door to minimize contact, according to statement on the transit agency’s website.
Only people with mobility devices will be allowed to use the front door.
Also, Omnitrans has adjusted its service hours: Routes that normally operate every 15 minutes now operate every 30 minutes and buses that run ever 30 minutes now run every 60 minutes.
Those changes are also scheduled to last until April 19. Routes that regularly run on the hour will continue to run on the hour.
Omnitrans officials hope the changes will lessen the number of passengers on buses, which will allow for better social distancing. The recommended distance between people is six feet.
Omnitrans is the largest public transit agency in San Bernardino County.
