Omnitrans makes more schedule changes

Omnitans, the largest transit agency in San Bernardino County, is implementing another round of service reductions in an attempt to help stem the spread of Coronavirus 19.

Starting Monday, Route 5, which serves San Bernardino and Colton, will operate every 45 minutes. It’s route will remain the same.

Other changes scheduled to begin April 13, according to a statement on the agency’s website:

• Routes 7 [San Bernardino], 308 [Yucaipa] and 20 [Fontana and several unincorporated communities], are being eliminated permanently. All three were originally scheduled to be shut down in September.
• Routes 67 [ Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga] 80 [Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario] and 290 [San Bernardino, Colton, Ontario and Montclair] are all being shut down temporarily because of low ridership.
• Routes 12 [San Bernardino, Rialto, Fontana, Muscoy] and 29 [Fontana, Bloomington] will begin using minibuses. Their schedules will not be changed.
• Route 81 [Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Chino] will eliminate its 30-minute route from the  Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center to Chaffey College, including routes on Foothill, Aspen, and Red Oak.
• Route 309 and 310 [both Yucaipa], will operate every 60 minutes on weekdays. Route 309 will operate every 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays.
• Route 365 [Chino Hills] will operate on a Saturday scheduled Monday through Saturday. Its Sunday schedule will not be changed.

The first round of changes, implemented last month, remain in place. Those changes include a limit of 20 passengers per bus and rear boarding and exiting only, according to the statement.
