Work has begun on a paving project along a major commercial stretch in Norco.
The project, on Hamner Avenue from Third Street to Hidden Valley Parkway, began Monday and is expected to be completed by May 30, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Most of the work on the 1.5-mile stretch will be done from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., which should keep disruption to businesses and residents to a minimum.
The stretch being worked on includes the Norco Auto Mall and the Gateway Town Center along with restaurants and other small businesses. A Target and an LA Fitness are part of the Gateway Center.
“It’s quite a long commercial stretch,” said Kelli Newton, communications manager for the city. “There’s very little residential, and what is there is tucked away.”
Cost of the project is $662,000. The paving will be done all at once, rather than in sections, Newton said.
